Fanny packs work great on outdoor shoots and can be used as shoulder bags too. The backpack style camera bag works best for a travelling photographer as they can hold the most equipment in the least discomfort to the person. They are quite rugged and water proof as well, in most cases. When buying camera, bags, go for one that is easy to use and an interesting pointer would be to go for large zippers if you plan on heavy outdoor use.
