Trekker Backpack

Trekker Backpack

What Picasso of Chavin culture question?

WALKING in the highlands of Peru alone, without a passport or money itself is a forbidden adventure. And if you know little or no Spanish, it could be the worst situation you can be in. But such is the bond of trekking that when things begin to fall apart, the backpackers begin to combine.

I had just lost my jacket with my passport, money, credit cards and last bar of chocolate, when I met up with Caroline from Wales, is trying to polish their Spanish travel through remote villages. We discussed issues of common interest and soon decided together to move the plains of Huanuco.

THE BIG "Plains of Huánuco," are filled with cattle. The calm before the mud-house along the old road, a middle-aged woman comes to horse To deliver milk. The man in the mud-house transfers it into a container made of plastic. "Improvised cold," he says as he descends into a running Stream that runs alongside. Then he offers sweet yogurt, which I drink run the last crumbs of bread which I found at the end of my backpack.

On the other Street, where we sit, are the ruins of the once Hunuco Pampa citidal, built a city for festivals. It is connected to the main thoroughfare of Cajamarca Inca Cusco. In those days, says the concierge, the different ethnic groups were incorporated into the Inca Empire populated area acquired, but why it was called a "city of festivals" still unknown is known. Perhaps it has to do with the rich produce of the region or the sublime beauty, or perhaps because they are the oldest traces of human Activities in Peru, the Lauricocha people, circa 10,000 years ago.

HUARAZ TREKKERS Mecca. Most adventurers who come to this region, as I start to their Journey from Huaraz, capital of Ancash in Peru and hiking mecca. A walk along the main street, I see Trekker stocking up on vegetables, eggs, meat, soup packets, Marmite and local 'pan' (bread), which fortunately lasts for more than four days. Chavin is three days to Huaraz from llama trekking or three hours by bus. I chose the later (and lost my jacket on him) to the ruins of Chavin de Huantar, the temple that gave it to 1000200 BC to explore a period called the Early Horizon.

Chavin is in the north-central sierra of Peru, between the desert coast sandwich – one of the driest deserts in the world – and the humid tropical lowlands of the Amazon in the east. The famous prehistoric Andean countries, culminating with the expansive Inca Empire were, primarily located in coastal and sierra environments.

What surprised me were the animals and plants, typical of the lowlands in Chavin art. Most observers agree that Chavin had no natural Home of animals such as caiman (alligator), monkey, and plants represented in their art. But the Mosna River, is located on the Chavín, eventually leads to the Amazon, where available, albeit through a convoluted route.

Looking to the structures of the site, a simple sequence of construction can be postulated. An old temple, built in a U-shape at a round square. And a new temple on a larger scale to the south and east.

EL Lanzon. U-Bahn built to produce its labyrinth of tunnels and Air channels deep confusing picture in my head. I am amazed by a single stone, is at the center, beautiful, with snakelike, people and carved stone features. It's called "El Lanzon" and looked at him closely you observe you that it has the shape of the eye and the tooth of a jaguar, an orang-utan or a tiger. It is the art of that impresses me most. But I am not alone in coming to this conclusion. Even Pablo Picasso said: "Of all the ancient cultures I admire, I am surprised that the Chavin most. Actually it is the inspiration behind most of my art. "

"CHAVIN" comes from the Quechua word for "CENTER OF INSTITUTIONS, "the center of the universe as a magical and sacred place. Chavín weather was a temple or a fort in the center of the Inca universe, or the weather was Lanzon Stone the power or the victim is not known. An archaeologist said that it was a ceremonial center with a twist on the architecture of the drains where the water and the roar of could be pushed water can be heard through vents and chambers within the center itself. When that was done, the center, literally had "roared," and you can imagine how the devotees would be awesome!

Chavin had ties to a religious group Located on the north coast and proven in the Sierra of Peru. Recent excavations have clearly proved these compounds by exposing Chavin ceramics in the vicinity of Puemape, in Cajamarca.

Machu Picchu. There are so many of us have been to Machu Picchu, and there are so many of us who know the famous Inca citadel, when those of us who went through the temple of Chavin have. Archaeologist John Rick of Stanford University will try this famous archeological site turn into a tourist destination, the interest of equal importance, such as Machu Picchu is. Rick, who has been digging in more than 10 years, believes that this is not only possible, but possible. The future of Chavin looks promising, thanks to the support and the Global Heritage Fund.

Caroline had now decided to study art Chavin and stay back planned in Peru more than they had. But I had to repent and come back to Lima to my new passport and return home. Seats in the aircraft with a weight I thought the significance of Machu Picchu to Chavín. As is Machu Picchu is great, Chavin is mysterious and the more I think about it, the more impressive it. Can one days, we can know the secrets of the stone of power, but until then it remains in the mist and mystery, and inspire us with their art.
