When you buy a wireless router/modem, wireless card from radio shack , do you need an ISP in order to use it?
I was at radio shack the other day and came across a wireless router that can connect every computer to the internet, They cost around $30.00. I asked the guy at the counter if I need a ISP in order to use the router, he didn’t seem to now what i was talking about.
Do you need a ISP in order to use a wireless card or a wireless router? Like AOL, Earthlink, verizon? Do you have to pay monthly fees to use it?
Does this apply to laptops?
Yes you need internet access. The wireless router takes your existing internet connection, and broadcasts it to computers within range. But if you don’t have an existing internet connection, it has nothing to broadcast.
